Nocturne is a "community-driven" roleplaying game. This means our players help shape the world, not just by writing, but also by helping guide the site itself. You are the bringers of life and content to this world, are the core component to making everything flow, and are ultimately the reason why the site exists. So there are many things you, the player and the community as a whole, can do for Nocturne to help drive it forward.

You Can:

• Create lore, events, and new content
• Build troupes, packs, and characters with engaging stories
• Submit and manage these characters, packs, and even litters
• Submit entries for the Wiki or Nature pages (just request the role!)
• Suggest changes and take an active part in improving the site and its features
• Utilize the site's built-in tools to minimize the need for an official staff team
• Participate in community-wide votes to appoint (or remove) moderators
• Give feedback on current moderators and / or request rule changes and improvements

A lot of the above has been painstakingly thought out and implemented because of community demand over the years, and Nocturne is honored to be able to present them to you now. However, while being community-driven means the players influence the site's future, it also means the players respect certain aspects that will not change. At the end of the day, Nocturne does have a vision, and in order to achieve that vision there are certain things that cannot shift, even if the community wants them to.

What Will Not Change:

• Plotting outside of the established limits will never be allowed (see written rules on the Game Rules and Plotting pages)
• Characters will always be required to face the consequences for their actions, up to and including death
• Out-of-character drama is not allowed and will never be accepted (see rule 7 here)
• Nocturne is and always will be intended for users 18 and older
• Sexual content between a minor and adult character, in-character or otherwise, will never be permitted
• Users will not be banned based on community opinion unless a rule is broken or the site is harmed; if you do not wish to interact with someone, we have features for you to utilize in order to block them
• The base structure of the game will remain unchanged (semi-realism, no plotting, and writing with appropriate risks)

A Note From the Owner:

You are welcome to form an opinion on the above, but as the creator and owner of Nocturne, I hope you can understand why certain things need to remain the way they are. Nocturne is my vision; I built it, I care about it, and I vow to be here until its final day. However, you are always free to bring up anything that concerns you about the way I handle things. Everyone should always feel safe and welcome to write here, and I am always open to constructive feedback.
