Rodent Boom : The undergrowth stirs with restless rustling; mice and rats are everywhere. Perhaps a blessing... perhaps a curse.
Content Warnings
Nocturne lets you write about a wide range of things, good or bad. That includes topics that some users may find upsetting.

This wiki page has potentially disturbing content on it as a result!

We only have one hard rule: no pedophilia. Grooming can be written with characters who are at least 8 months old. Any sexual content must involve adult characters. If that bothers you, that’s okay; but for many of us, writing these plots helps us process things we’ve been through. Some of us were groomed. Some of us were abused. Some of us were sexually assaulted. Writing helps.

That said, you must remember: writing about something does not mean the writer supports it. Someone writing about violence, sexual assault, abuse, or death is not saying they’re okay with it in real life. It doesn’t mean they enjoy it. It doesn’t mean they want it to happen. It doesn't mean they're glorifying it.

Stories are stories, please forever keep that in mind. Use content warnings, they are required. Take care of yourself and others, and step away if you need to.

So again, these are required. Please apply content warnings to your posts by checking the appropriate content warning any time it is included in a post you are writing. In addition, if your character's profile has any of these triggering items please add a content warning near the top of the page (the other section is good for this). You can see our Short Codes wiki page for how to easily add content warnings to your profile.

Body Image Covers characters struggling with their appearance, body dysmorphia, or harmful self-perception. Example: characters who fixate on their weight or scars.
Content Warning A general catch-all. Use this when something feels heavy, even if no specific tag fits. Always pair with detailed warnings when possible.

Disturbing Thoughts Used when a character's internal dialogue includes violent, intrusive, or unstable thinking. Example: imagining hurting others in detail.
Drug Use Covers altered states, substance use, or addiction. Example: herbal sedatives, mind-altering plants, or addiction-coded behavior.
Grooming Flags age-inappropriate relationships with a power imbalance. Example: an older character manipulating or pursuing a much younger one, even if “consensual” in-character.
Incest Flags romantic or sexual relationships between close blood relatives (e.g. siblings, parent/child, cousins).
Manipulation Use for gaslighting, deception, or coercive behavior. Example: lying to isolate someone or faking vulnerability to control.
Pup Death Specifically for stories involving the death of puppies or young characters. Example: a stillborn or a lost litter.
Self Harm Used when a character intentionally harms themselves. Example: cutting, self-starvation, or head injury from panic.
Sexual Assault Flags any non-consensual sexual interaction, threats, or aftermath. This includes flashbacks, trauma, or mentions.
Sexual Themes Used when sexual content or suggestive behavior is present. Includes flirting with intent, mating scenes, or seduction.
